Reading PA is home to the biggest, best, and most comprehensive commemoration of World War II and the Greatest Generation in the country. Get a feel for life on the Great American Home Front with a recreated 1940's House, a radio station that is "on the air," a department store with 1940's items for sale rationed only by your personal budget, a fully stocked cottage style gas station, and Air Raid Wardens on patrol down the 1940's street. The big band dance Friday night is reminiscent of Artie Shaw's PTO band and the Saturday night hangar dance replicates the famous sounds of Glenn Miller and the Band of the Army Air Corp., "Bud and Lou" can be seen cutting it up with their routines all around the air field, and during show hours in the base club you can enjoy the song stylings of Theresa Eaman, and enjoy the newcomers to the show "The Ladies For Liberty" singers. The Reading Army Airfield will spring back to life as dozens of rare WW II aircraft will fill the encampments, ramps,
taxiways, and sky. Pick up on the unmistakable sounds of radial engines, feel the drone of the B-17, and thrill to the
sound of superchargers.
